Is there any discussion about sogdien/persian pearl roundels pattern silk from early mediavel times? I tried find anything here, but without succes.

This theme is similar to the theme of her lecture at Interdisciplinary Approach to the Study and Conservation of Medieval Textiles:

Valéry Golikov, Olga Orfinskaya, Yelena Pshenitchnova, Dmitri Voskrersensky: Experimental reaserch of polycrome ‘Sogdian’ silk of the 8th –9th centuries from the Tcherkessk Museum collection.
The Northern branches of the Great Silk Road passed through the land of Alania (now Karachay-Tcherkessk), medieval state of the western Caucasus. Many textiles from the 8th –9th centuries were found in the Alania burials. 170 fragments of polychrome textiles and silk from the valley of the river Zelentchuk are now in the museum of Tcherkessk. Weaving and dyeing techniques were researched with the aid of a complex experimental method. The scientific results of the research gives us knowledge about the technological level of the textile production of the Sogd, famous cultural centre of Turkestan, until know partly neglected.
